What it does
Smooth Therapy is Step 2, Realignment, of the Reactive Pro straightening protocol. Built on the LuminAlign System, it optimises light reflection while thermally aligning the hair fibre, on a glyoxylic acid base. The label states it is engineered for blonde and sensitive hair: a violet pigment lifts the reflect while the flat iron seals the realignment.
Smooth Therapy carries the Formaldehyde Free seal and the V-Label International vegan certification on the label, the same as Reactive Pro Shampoo: a decisive claim for a UK client asking whether a straightening service uses formaldehyde.
The label caps ironing for this product at 160 to 190°C, never higher. That ceiling is lower than Piur London's other, higher-heat smoothing line, which is built for non-blonde, chemically resistant hair: the two lines share the same two-step logic, but Smooth Therapy exists specifically to protect the reflect that a higher heat range would compromise.
Key actives (as on the label)
- Glyoxylic Acid, the realignment (straightening) active
- Silanetriol, reinforces the fibre's structure
- Panthenol, conditioning
- Acid Violet 43, the violet pigment behind the Blonde Preservation claim; it works on the reflect, it is not a toner
- Tamarindus Indica Fruit Extract
When to use it
Immediately after Reactive Pro Shampoo, on hair dried fully, on blonde, highlighted or otherwise sensitised hair booked for a straightening service.
How to use it
- Apply evenly in fine strands, keeping 1 to 2cm away from the scalp.
- Leave to process for 40 minutes at room temperature.
- Rinse until fully removed.
- Dry the hair 100 percent.
- Flat iron in fine strands, 10 to 15 passes per section, at 160 to 190°C and never higher.
What not to do
- Professional use only; adult use.
- Never exceed 190°C. This ceiling is declared on the label; a higher heat range belongs to Piur London's other smoothing line, built for different hair.
- Keep the application 1 to 2cm away from the scalp.
- Six-month shelf life: rotate stock and check the batch date before use.
- Do not shorten or extend the 40-minute pause; do not skip drying fully before ironing.
The system
Reactive Pro
Hair type Blonde, highlighted or otherwise sensitised hair booked for the Reactive Pro straightening protocol.
Not for Not sold or positioned as a stand-alone clarifying shampoo; its role is preparing the fibre for Smooth Therapy, not a general wash. Not the right prep step for non blonde, chemically resistant hair booked for Piur London's higher heat smoothing line; that line opens with its own shampoo.
Reactive Pro is Piur London's straightening protocol built for the hair that suffers most from a smoothing service: blonde, highlighted or otherwise sensitised fibre, the segment where a standard high heat progressive comes out flat, brassy and stripped of movement.
Realignment runs on a glyoxylic acid base, the same family of active used across Piur London's straightening range, thermally sealed by the iron rather than by formaldehyde. A violet pigment built into the Smooth Therapy formula works on the reflect while the fibre is aligned, which is why the label caps this specific product at a lower heat ceiling than Piur London's other smoothing line.
In the chair, confirm the hair is blonde, highlighted or sensitised before reaching for this line rather than the higher heat option, dry completely between the two steps, and never take the iron above the ceiling the label declares, because that ceiling is what protects the reflect this line is built to preserve.
Less volume, same colour, hair that still moves.
Protocol
Your Reactive Pro protocol
Reactive Pro Shampoo, Deep Cleansing Purifier
2 to 3 minutes, cool water rinseRemoves product build-up and equalises porosity along the whole length, preparing the fibre to receive Smooth Therapy. Porosity equalisation matters more here than on a general clarifying shampoo, because porosity is rarely even along blonde or highlighted lengths.
Apply to wet hair, massage gently without rubbing vigorously, rinse with cool water to help seal the cuticle before moving to Step 2. Dry the hair fully before Smooth Therapy goes on.
